Roll Down Security Gates
Roll down gates protect storefronts and service entrances, and the steel around them - the header, the guides and the anchoring - is what keeps them running true. Steel Masters fabricates and installs that framing and services the gates themselves.

A roll down security gate is only as reliable as the frame it runs in. Steel Masters has fabricated storefront gate headers, guides and support steel for NYC retail, restaurant and service properties since 1972, and services gates that no longer roll smoothly because the surrounding steel or masonry has failed rather than the curtain itself.

New Gate Framing
Header, guide and support steel are fabricated to the measured opening so the gate hangs plumb and runs square from day one. We coordinate with the gate manufacturer or supplier on curtain width and mounting depth, and anchor the frame into sound masonry or structural steel rather than into the storefront's existing trim.
Diagnosing a Gate That Runs Crooked
Most binding gates are a framing problem, not a curtain problem. We check the guides for bowing, the header for level, and the anchor points for movement in the masonry behind them before touching the curtain itself.
Where the masonry has spalled or cracked at the anchor points, we cut back to sound material, weld in new bearing steel and reset the guides so the gate has a solid frame to run in, instead of masking the problem with a new motor or curtain.
