Security Cages & Partitions
Cage partitions turn open basement or warehouse floor into secured, assignable space. Steel Masters welds cage rooms, tenant storage lockers, and meter and equipment enclosures from expanded metal or welded wire on steel framing.
Panels are built to your layout in our Brooklyn shop and assembled on site, with hinged or sliding doors and the locking hardware you want.
Security cages and partitions let a building owner divide one open floor into secured units without pouring a wall. Steel Masters has fabricated welded cage rooms, tenant storage lockers and equipment enclosures for NYC apartment buildings and warehouses since 1972, building each layout to the columns, pipes and headers already in the space.
Why NYC Owners and Managers Choose Steel Masters
- Welded panel construction - steel angle or tube frames with expanded metal or welded wire infill, welded rather than clipped together.
- Built to your floor layout - panel runs are measured to fit existing columns, pipes and low headers instead of a fixed grid.
- Full-height or partial-height - partial-height dividers for open storage areas, full-height ceiling-caged units for fully secured cages.
- Hinged or sliding doors - each cage or locker gets its own door on welded frames, sized for the assigned unit.
- Locking hardware to spec - padlock hasps, cylinder locks or slide bolts fitted so units can be secured and assigned individually.
- Tenant storage and equipment enclosures - the same panel system covers residential storage cages and meter, boiler or utility enclosures.
- Fabricated and installed by one crew - panels are welded in Brooklyn and assembled on site by Steel Masters, not a subcontracted install crew.
Cage and Partition Types We Build
Tenant storage cages divide a residential cellar into individually locked units, one per apartment. Meter, boiler and equipment enclosures secure mechanical rooms while keeping the equipment ventilated through mesh infill. Warehouse tool cribs and stock cages secure high-value inventory or tools within an otherwise open floor. Full-height and partial-height partitions are chosen based on whether the space needs to be fully enclosed, including the ceiling, or simply divided at a working height.
Layout, Fabrication and Installation
We measure the space before fabrication, noting columns, sprinkler piping, electrical conduit and any low headers, and lay out panel runs and door locations around them rather than forcing a fixed grid onto an irregular basement or warehouse floor.
Panels are framed in angle or tube with expanded metal or welded wire infill, welded at the shop, then bolted together and anchored to floor and ceiling on site. Doors are hung on welded frames, not clipped panel sections, so hinges and locks have something solid to bear on.
Where Cages and Partitions Get Used in NYC
Residential building cellars for tenant storage, apartment building meter and utility rooms, commercial warehouse floors for tool cribs and stock security, and school or institutional buildings dividing mechanical and storage space. Any open floor that needs to become several individually secured areas is a candidate for a cage partition system.
Every job is measured in the field and built to that opening - we fabricate in our own Brooklyn shop and install with our own crew, the same way we have since 1972.
